Well, I have amazing news!!!! I got a teaching job!!!!!!!
I start as the ARI/AMI teacher at Ortiz Elementary School on October 8th. I will not have my own class technically, I will be working to tutor mostly 3rd graders who are struggling so that they can pass the TAKS test at the end of the year. So while I don't have my own classroom to set up yet, I do get to work with kids, and put my hard-earned degree to use!!! I am thrilled and excited to get to work!
Other than that I had a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Denver with Mom, Papa, Aunt Cindy, and Uncle Steve. We gambled at Blackhawk which was beautiful and fun- even though none of us came back with anything but sore fingers from pushing the buttons on the slot machine!!!
We also went to Casa Bonita, which was a restaurant that I had remembered going to with my whole family when I was younger. The food is nothing to be thrilled about, but the atmosphere is what you pay for. There's cliff divers, sword fights, magicians, a live band, and more stuff just for the younger kids...it was just fun to see it all again. We sat in this giant pink dome shaped room, which was fun...and FUNNY once we figured out that the shape of the room allowed you to hear other peoples conversations that were sitting across from you. It was as if they were whispering right in you ear!! I got to share the lovely conversation of a young couple on a date...he discussed polotics, and the housing market, and well...she discussed nothing since she was bored out of her mind!!
Mom and Aunt Cindy and I went shopping all day Sunday while the Steve's went to watch the Bronco's play. They have a great mall there and it was fun to have girly time. I found some great mirrors for our bathroom at home and snagged them at a great price. Although I wasn't as fond of them once I had to ride 12 hours back to Texas in the backseat with one of them since it was too large to fit in the trunk!
I also got to read this weekend---ALOT! It was my first time to read a book that I actually WANTED to read since college. Mom brought a book called Twilight by Stephanie Myers and I told her I had just seen that author on Ellen promoting her books and that there was a movie coming out in November based on the first one. So I set out reading and couldn't put it down!! I devoured the book before we arrived in Denver, and devoured the second in the series on the way home. They are about Vampires, but aren't scary at all, more of a love story really.
Anyway, enough for now, I have to get back to work!
