Well, after 2 hours spent in the lawyers office yesterday doing what they call a "courtesy closing" (it was FAR from it!), we are the proud owners of our new house!!! We have been working our tail ends off painting, scraping, and trying to find the floor under mountians of boxes.
As I said before all of our furniture is still at our old house (well most of it anyway), which is okay since we still have a lot that we want to get done, and this gives us less furniture to have to move around! So we are sleeping on an air mattress, in our massive master bedroom, and mom and I had quite the laugh setting it up! Mom was just appaled at the fact that once we got the air mattress out of the case that it didn't have a way of blowing itself up! So we set about searching boxes to find our air mattress pump. After much searching we finally prevailed and set to work, it went for about 1 minute and then ran out of batteries! So here we are with a half blown up air mattress....DING! (this is the lighbulb going off in mom's head)- I look up as she is dragging the HUGE shop vac into our bedroom. She then proceeds to put the hoses on backwards so that it will blow instead of suck. It took about 5 seconds for the vacuum to finish the job, but it probly would have been shorter if we weren't laughing so hard!!!
Last night I had a wonderful evening with Mom and my Aunt Wanda. We went to Kohl's, then to Hobby Lobby, and Lowes, and finally to dinner at Johnny Carinos. At Lowes they both decided that I needed house warming presents for my massive and empty new house. Aunt Wanda chose to buy a very cute new door mat to replace the astroturf one with daisies glued on it that came with the house. The new one has brown and turquoise polka dots, and a big dot in the middle that says- "You Are Here". It was really nice to see it when I left for work this morning, I had no idea that a doormat could make such a difference!
Then Mom bought us the vanity lights that I wanted so badly for our bathroom, and thought that I'd have to just save up for!

We have one for each mirror now, and I think they are beautiful!!! Thank you mom for such a great gift, I am sure my make-up will look ever so much better now that I will be able to SEE to put it on!!
Anyway, there is still MUCH to do, but we are just going to tackle things one day and one project at a time. I have to remind myself not to get stressed about things, we are going to be in this house for a LONG time, and the important thing is to have happy memories of getting it done, not stressfull ones!

Yeah, congratulations! Although I can't believe you would choose to update those fabulous light fixtures... Surely you aren't going to throw them away!
