Our Anniversary Weekend Getaway

Well, better late than never! Chad and I got to escape to Fredericksburg for an entire weekend, and it was so amazing. It was nice to get away and not answer cell phones or text messages, and just enjoy each other. We stayed at a great little cottage in town called the Cross Mountain Retreat. Here's the fancy bed:Fireplace, kitchenette area, and view towards the back door:And the GREAT BIG bathtub!!! The cottage was very cute and cozy, perfect for just the tow of us. After we settled in and changed clothes, we headed into town to grab some dinner and chose Mamacitas, it was VERY good! After that we walked around downtown a while and devloped a strategy to be able to see every shop in one weekend. Then we headed down to the town square to check out A Night in Old Fredericksburg. It was okay, I think we were a little to worn out to really enjoy all the German singing, and kids running everywhere!

The next morning we headed out to Trade Days and met up with Katie, Bo, and little Cameron. Where we bought a fabulous new dresser for the guest room! Sadly though none of us took any pictures! After Trade Days we all grabbed lunch together and then shopped for a while. Chad and I then took off to check out some of the wineries and do LOTS of tasting!

After the wineries we decided it was time for dinner and got out the list of places to eat that I had printed off of the Chamber of Commerce website. There was only one that listed Italian food and it was reservations only, so we decided we'd try to call and see if they could squeeze us in. They could, so we headed to the cottage to change and then headed out to find this place. We had only gotten directions from the chef, and he didn't know the address, so we had to rely on the notes that we had managed to jot down! Here's the gate that we were supposed to drive through:
There was no sign with the name of the Restaurant (Trois) or even a sign that just said "Restaurant" The chef just told us to drive through the gate between to lions. ...we were a little creeped out! Then we drove up this long windy road in hopes of some sign of a restaurant and not someones house! We instead found what looked like a small mecixan city:
So we bravely got out of the car in search of a sign of a restaurant...There it is---
See that tiny little sign above the door that says Restaurant with an arrow? lol! So we headed through the walkway and came upon some very interesting door handles...
So we bravely pulled them open....okay Chad pulled them open while I hid behind him...and found this:
A beautiful little place all the way out in the middle of (creepy) nowhere! Chad and I enjoyed the best steak that I have EVER eaten in my life (and being raised in the same town as the Beehive that says something!) So it was so worth all the creepiness to enjoy such a great meal!

The next day we visted Wildseed Farms, but I'll save that for the next post!

I can't believe we didn't get any pictures! I even hauled my camera around everywhere. It was so much fun to see you guys and the dresser was a total steal!
